The long established 'Friends of St. George's
Primary School', popularly known as 'The Friends',
get together on a regular basis to plan and suggest
ideas for fund raising and social events. The
meetings are informal, friendly and opento all
parents, relatives and carers of children in school,
and to members of staff. All help is welcome,
either with ideas, donations, at meetings, or
at events. The Friends' notice board is situated
on the front of the main school building. Here
you can find information on events and who to
contact.
Events
in the past have included Christmas celebrations,
jumble sales, bingo nights, race nights, barbecues,
coffee afternoons etc., but we are always on
the lookout for new, fun ideas.
The
money raised helps to provide many extras for
the children - such as theatre and pantomime
trips, educational and recreational resources,
and subsidies for school activities to help
reduce the cost for parents/carers.
The
Friends also help to raise money for the BBC
Children in Need Appeal, and provide refreshments
for the children at the school's annual sports
day.
The
Friends committee is elected at the AGM in the
Autumn term, but new helpers are welcome to
join in at any time simply by coming along to
a meeting, an event, or social gathering.
